Mumias Sugar Company is Kenya's largest sugar manufacturer by historical production capacity, operating an integrated cane crushing, refining, and co-generation plant in Mumias, Western Kenya. Listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, the company produces refined white sugar for retail and industrial sale and generates electricity from bagasse sold to the national grid. After years of financial difficulties, Mumias entered receivership and is undergoing restructuring to restore production to its 7,000 tonne-per-day crushing capacity.
